“Shoulds” occur when one sacrifice’s their true self to gain approval or love.
“Shoulds” can feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. This can be a heavy burden when you carry the expectations of everyone and the world.
Carrying the burden of everyone’s expectations can appear as being either overly responsible and over-achieving or being overtly co-dependent. These kinds of actions can be self-defeating, especially if you are doing things that go against how you feel or what you truly want. These actions suppress your power and freedom.
What are 3 ways to Release Shoulds and Bring Freedom Back into Your Life?
1. Fortify your boundaries and learn how to say ‘No’
When you create firm boundaries related to what you are and aren’t willing to take on, then you can reclaim your time and energy. When you align yourself to working for your highest and best good, you take full responsibility for only what you can do for yourself.
2. Learn to use empowering words such as am, can, and will
When you use empowering and positive words such as “I can” and “I choose” or “I AM” – then you choose to work from a higher vibration than “I should” or “I can’t”. Speak from a place of action and choice than complacence and weakness. Decide to act responsibly and create your own choices instead of doing what others tell you.
3. Get in touch with what YOU want in life and DO IT!
When you live your life for someone else in order to make them happy, you give up what you want. Is that how you want to live? We encourage you to dig deep and give yourself the “Green Light Go instead of waiting for someone to do it for you.” That is called self-power. We encourage you to use it.
